2007 Preservation Grants

North Carolina Preservation Consortium

 

Carteret County Public Library   $1,500.00
The Carteret County Public Library in Beaufort received a grant to purchase preservation storage enclosures and archival material for the Ethel T. Elliott Collection which contains manuscripts, bound volumes, ancestry charts, family histories, indexes, documents, and microfilm.  Elliott was a professional genealogist and historian.    

 

DeTamble Library, St. Andrews Presbyterian College   $1,500.00
The DeTamble Library at St. Andrews Presbyterian College in Laurinburg was awarded funding to purchase preservation storage enclosures for film slides, photographs, negatives, and contact sheets in the College Archives that document the history of the College.           

 

North Carolina Maritime Museum   $1,700.00
The North Carolina Maritime Museum in Beaufort will use this grant to fund a preservation and collection assessment of nautical objects and artifacts that pertain to North Carolina’s maritime history and culture.  

 

Prezell R. Robinson Library, Saint Augustine’s College   $1,300.00  
The Prezell R. Robinson Library at Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh received a grant to purchase preservation storage enclosures and archival material for the George “Pup” Williams Collection which includes awards, correspondence, contracts, newspaper articles, yearbooks, photographs, oral interviews, flags, clothing, plaques, and trophies.  Williams is a renowned Olympic Track Coach and an alumnus of Saint Augustine’s College.
